When was the last time you heard Rock & Soul accompanied by world rhythms and lyrics with a strong positive message? Writing and performing his own music, joti is an independent singer/songwriter, dancer/choreographer, and actor who has been compared to Prince, Maxwell, Sting, Steel Head, Curtis Mayfield, and Stevie Wonder. "Best Artist of the Cultural Arts Festival" in Sydney Australia, joti has performed with legends Joe Hunter of the Funk Brothers, Jeannie Tracy, and saxophonist extraordinaire Bobby Strickland at the Mill Valley Film Festival. During the rehearsal for Inhibition, a jazz concert at the Brava Theater, saxophonist Bobby Strickland convinced joti to perform his own music. Bobby produced, "I Get So Caught Up" the title track of joti's solo debut album.

At the age of 17, joti moved to New York City to study pedagogy and literature of music, voice, piano, acting, and dance at American Musical and Dramatic Academy, STEPS, Broadway Dance Center, and Greenville College. As an honor student and winner of the NAACP and Danny Talent Scholarship, joti continued to refine his craft as a soloist, choir director, and recording artist. He's performed at the Mill Valley Film Festival, St. Louis Symphony Hall, The Sydney Opera House, Fox Studios Australia, Carnegie Hall, and with Taunte Tillie's Jazz Band in Denmark. Joti toured with Cornerstone and Red Drum Productions as well as performed in regional theaters nationally including Seaside Music Theater, Theater Works, St Louis Repertory, San Jose Stage Co., and Woodminster Amphitheater. joti's has performed benefit concerts for Community Against Violence at San Francisco City Hall, Visual Aids, raised money for ARK (AIDS Resource for Kids), provided as well as developed a program tutoring and outreach to inner city children, and helped with Christmas for the Pediatric AIDS Unit in San Francisco. Combine the high energy of Prince and Elton John, the flexibility of Steve Wonder and the edge of Sting add emotion, clarity, truth and you get joti. He brings accomplished musicians with like bass guitarist, Uriah Duffy who recorded "Impossible" with Multi-Grammy winner Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera, electric and acoustic guitarist Bob Castell-Blanch, and percussionist Mick Berry. "Full of Surprises, Truly Versatile, and Entertaining" states Trent Morant former Artistic Director and Conductor for Oakland Youth Chorus. |
